The other end of the molecule forms a microscopic bed of spikes that punctures the microbes. BioShield75 physically ruptures the cell walls of these microbes, without the poisons being exhausted. These spikes are long, pointed chains of atoms that are big enough to pierce the cell walls of various microbes. "Long" is a relative term, however, as they are only one-millionth the diameter of a human hair, so they are too small to harm the larger cells of mammals.

Additionally, these chains of atoms carry a strong positive charge that attracts the negatively charged bacteria.
